John Adair – Managing Director

John established JMA Decorators Ltd in 1995 upon his arrival to New Zealand from Scotland. John has a solid industry background spanning in excess of 25 years and has worked on major projects in the UK including Nuclear Power Stations; ScotRail bridges; Heritage Trust sites; from 5 star hotels to Edinburgh Sherrif’s Court. John’s interests include judo coaching and instruction, boating and fishing, rugby union, fitness and well being.

Laurie Smaling - General Manager

Laurie is involved in all aspects of the business with prime responsibility for strategic expansion. Laurie has had considerable experience at senior level within the industry dating back to 1986 and specialising in paint maintenance and long term contracts to enhance building presentation and value. Laurie has previously held senior management positions throughout New Zealand, in Asia and Australia. Laurie’s interests include all things family, rugby union, cuisine, his motor cycle and Bombay gin.

Lorraine Adair - Administration Manager

Lorraine is responsible for the all important financial aspects of the Company. Having worked together with John from the outset Lorraine is fully conversant with all aspects of the day to day running of the Company. Lorraine's responsibilities include IT, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and is also PA to the Managing Director. Lorraine’s interests include family interests, Pony Club Secretary, her daughter's equestrian events, cycling and aerobic exercising.

Jamie Ellison - Project Manager

Jamie has been employed with the Company from the outset and brought with him a wealth of experience which includes managing large work sites, meeting project deadlines and developing effective teams. Jamie enjoys being involved with all family activities and is a keen fisherman. Other interests could be described as ‘all things outdoors’ – whether it be chopping wood or mending fences.

Pera Simcock - Project Manager

Pera has a painting and decorating history spanning in excess of 20 years starting out as a lad of 17. Pera is a Trade Certified Painter & Decorator and is familiar with all aspects of the decorating framework.

Special interests over the years have included application of vinyl, textured and fabric wall covering and spray painting. Pera’s work was highlighted in a Designer Home magazine in 1998 – this home won an award with special praise written of the work Pera performed. His interests include Rugby Union, Judo, Small Bore Rifle Club and driving tanks!
